Album : Soho et Tribeca
Contraction of South Houston, while it’s located in the south of Houston Street. The district remained rural until the 18th century. A canal limited it in the south. Polluted and nauseating, it was changed at the beginning of the 19th century. Only the souvenir of Canal Street remains. The name Tribeca was adopted by property agents in the 1970s to shorten the real name : TRIangle BElow CAnal Street. The area was occupied by Dutch farms until the 18th century. At the beginning of the 19th century, a vast park was implanted there – the St. John’s Park, quickly surrounded by beautiful high class residences.
