In the 19th century, the limits of Little Italy had been a lot bigger than they are at the present day, and the Italian community, whose members reached 120,000 at the beginning of the 20th century, was also very dominant in the West Village. Chinatown extends systematically from Broadway in the west, from Allen Street in the east, from Delancey Street in the north (thus taking over the old limits of Little Italy), and from Worth Street in the south. The principal axes are Canal Street (east-west) as well as Mulberry Street and Mott Street (north-south) in their southern part, these two streets climb up to the north in Little Italy. You can get there by subway – get off at Grand Street and Canal Street.
